You can prevent this disease from happening to you even if your parents have had it. The goal is to do so now.
There are several prevention methods that you can take advantage of. Depending on your specific needs and risk factors your doctor may recommend additional ones. The goal is to find the right solution for your specific outlook. Here are a few tips.
1. Stay a healthy weight. Even adding on as little as an extra 20 pounds increases your risk of heart disease significantly. If you are overweight, don’t worry. By losing the weight now, you can prevent many complications that can come of it including heart disease. If you are overweight and have been, you may already have the first signs of heart disease happening. Losing weight will stop them from progressing.
2. Eat a healthy diet. A heart healthy diet is important. Remember you can eat the foods that you love, but do so in moderation. If you plan to eat something bad for you, then spend the next 24 hours eating healthy, very healthy. You should eat less saturated fat, more whole grains and lots of fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants which improve your health.
3. Get exercise. Exercising improves the hearts condition. If you are suffering from heart disease already, then you will want to talk to your doctor first. Otherwise, exercise improves your heart’s function.
Doing these three things can significantly help you to prevent the onset of many diseases including heart disease.
